PAINTLESS DENT REPAIR · BARTELSO, IL

Dents Gone. Factory Paint Untouched.

A door ding in the grocery store lot or a dent from a stray ball doesn’t have to mean sanding, filler, and fresh paint. With paintless dent repair (PDR), we massage the metal back into shape from behind the panel, so your original factory finish stays exactly as it left the plant. Mickelson’s has been repairing vehicles for drivers across Clinton County since 1985.

How Paintless Dent Repair Works

  1. Inspect the dent. We check the size, depth, location, and the paint around it to confirm PDR is the right fix. If it isn’t, we’ll tell you and quote the conventional repair instead.
  2. Get access behind the panel. We work through openings like the door, trim panels, or tail lights. No drilling, no cutting.
  3. Reshape the metal. Using specialized rods and lighting, our technician pushes the dent out in small, controlled movements until the panel is level again. Some dents are pulled from the outside with glue tabs instead.
  4. Final check under light. We inspect the panel from several angles so the repair is invisible, then return your vehicle.

Why Drivers Choose PDR

  1. Keeps your factory paint. No filler or repaint means no color-match concerns and a clean history for resale.
  2. Faster turnaround. Many small dents are finished the same day or within a few days.
  3. Often costs less than a traditional body repair with paint.
  4. Ideal for hail. PDR is the preferred method for most hail damage, and many insurers favor it.

When PDR Works, and When It Doesn't

PDR is a great fit for door dings, small creases, minor hail dents, and shallow dents on hoods, roofs, fenders, doors, and quarter panels. It’s usually not the right choice when the paint is cracked or chipped, the metal is stretched or sharply creased, or the dent sits on a panel edge. In those cases we’ll recommend a conventional repair with our color-matching paint system. We’ll always be straight with you about which option gives the best result.

Cost depends on the dent’s size, depth, and location, and how many dents there are. A single small door ding generally costs far less than a traditional repair with paint. Send us photos for a free estimate.

A single small dent can often be repaired in an hour or two. Multiple dents or hail damage may take one to several days.

No. PDR works best when the paint isn’t cracked and the metal isn’t stretched. Deep creases, dents on sharp body lines or panel edges, and damaged paint usually need conventional body work.

No. Because your original paint is preserved, PDR is one of the best ways to protect resale value. There’s no repainted panel for a buyer or inspector to find.

If the dent came from hail or another covered event, comprehensive coverage typically pays for PDR, minus your deductible. Small dings from everyday parking often cost less to fix than the deductible.
